Last week, a group of Cebu Bloggers escaped the dusty environment of the City and savored a tranquil life at Lava Mountain River Farm. It was an amazing day living in a perfect sanctuary. But that doesn't mean we did not engage into some adventurous activities because on our second day at Barangay Bonbon, Cebu City we did not fail to visit the spectacular beauty of Himbabawod or Himbabawd or Himbabawud Waterfalls.

After our 7 AM breakfast at Lava Mountain River Farm, we then prepared ourselves and grab some drinking water as we went River Trekking for an hour before reaching the "not-so-discovered" Himbabawod/Himbabawud Falls. It was not a sunny morning as rain drops started to fall. Thanks to our accommodating guide from Lava, Lemuel Nacua - he is calm and very patience. Kudos!

Before you proceed reading, here's a little trivia. In the topmost part of the waterfalls is the so called Binuthan Cave. It is a solutional cave located at the Border of Bonbon and Sudlon, Cebu. A solutional cave is formed when the natural acids in water gradually dissolve soft, soluble rocks such as limestone, chalk, marble, gypsum, dolomite, or salt. The water seeps through faults, cracks, bedding planes, and other crevices. Over several millennia, the cavities formed by the acidic water expand to become cave systems. It was a gloomy Thursday when we gathered in the City for a great escapade in our Lives. I'm not talking about any "Survivor" series but I'm speaking of an experience worth a disconnection from the online world. I think we just started Summer right at Lava Mountain River Farm, a very hilly and mountainous side of Cebu City offering more than just a breathtaking view of the mountain.

Situated at Barangay Bonbon, Cebu, Lava Mountain River Farm is owned by the Lava Family which is a 4-hectare farm near the famous Mananga River. The Farm or the Resort encourages Tourists and Visitors to at least escape from polluted City and chill in a simple lifestyle. For this, I humbly thank Ms. Mars Espera for the invite. LAVA is cold in the morning and very cold at night. They got a flowing infinity pool that comes from the Mananga River. But before the river-water pours down to the swimming pool, it is being filtered naturally with a certain algea and some processes. Mr. Bang Gumalo, the Manager of the farm confirmed this to assure everyone a cool and clean water for swimming.

For me, Lava Mountain River Farm is a perfect way of going back to basics. They got no airconditioned rooms. They got no fancy beds. They got no wifi or data signal. A complete disconnection from our City Life which is for me a very helpful way to think, retreat, enjoy the company of our friends and family and of course cherish the tranquility that nature gives. Aside from these positive feedback, LAVA offers delicious and healthy dishes in a boodle fight of eating. Also, did I mention that here in this amazing Mountain Resort you can actually witness a real firefly roaming around the air at night? Yes, you read it right - fireflies! And a little trivia, fireflies are one of the indications that the air of a certain habitat is clean. I guess, you already know where to spend your Summer Escapade? (Wink)

How to go to Lava Mountain River Farm? 
1. Look for BUMBLE V GAS STATION along Transcentral Highway. This will be on your left if coming from Cebu City and is before Ayala Heights.
2. Make a left turn on the 2nd left corner (there is a sign of the church ST. JOHN MARIE VIANNEY QUASI PARISH) after Bumble V gas station. This is road heading to Brgy. Bonbon.
3. Follow road until you see Bonbon Barangay Hall on your left.
4. Take right turn immediately after Barangay Hall (there is a directional signage of LAVA MOUNTAIN RIVER FARM). This is road leading to Biasong.
5. Follow road until you hit a T intersection (there is a directional signage of LAVA MOUNTAIN RIVER FARM), take a left turn at the T.
6. Follow road until you get to river. There will be a sitio there (Biasong) that you will drive through. Follow the directional signages.

1. We are a private resort and bookings are all on reservation basis only. We do not accept walk-in visitors.
2. We do not rent out our rooms or cottages individually. We only rent out the entire place.
3. Bookings are for exclusive use. We accept 1 day use and 1 overnight group per day.
4. Day use bookings will have use of the day use area only. Overnight bookings will have use of the entire place.
5. Road going to the farm is not good. We recommend to use SUV, pickup, or better to get to the farm. Do not bring lowered vehicles going there as you will only damage your car.
