LAPU LAPU CITY (January 25, 2020) – Heartily welcome Chinese New Year and celebrate the Year of the Metal Rat at the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino! This year, the culinary team led by Chef Tristan Encarnacion has put together traditional Filipino-Chinese cuisine which is prepared specifically to kick-off Chinese New Year 2020. Peking duck, char siu, kungpao chicken, lo han chai (Chinese vegetables), and xiao long bao are just some of the splendid Oriental dishes available for this occasion! Watch as the chefs whip up Hot and Sour soup, Buddha Jumps Over the Wall soup, Chinese Hot Pot Broth, and Chow Mein as these dishes are available for show cooking.

It has also been a tradition at the Waterfront Mactan to host a spectacular Lion Dance which will be performed by Cebu Wushu Traditional Lion and Dragon Dance which both hotel guests and visitors alike may enjoy. Waterfront Airport Hotel and CasinoHotel Manager Mr. Rex BenhurCaballes, together with the guest of honor, Honorable Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, leads the Hoi Gong, or the lion-awakening ritual, where the lion’s eyes are painted symbolizing the blessing and awakening of the new lion. There’s also the ceremonial Cai Qing or the traditional custom of plucking auspicious Chinese cabbage and assorted round fruits.





Guests and visitors can visit and enjoy the quaint Chinese temple replica and the canopy of lanterns which adorn the hotel lobby until February 9, 2020.
