by - 5:34 AM

I remember in my Philippine History Quiz Bee, I answered San Juanico Bridge as the Philippines Longest Bridge which connects the beautiful islands of Samar and Leyte but the facts will be updated! April 27, 2022, Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway is finally opened to all motorists! The Cebu-Cordova Bridge is officially the Longest and Tallest Bridge in the Philippines with its 8.9-kilometer road that links mainland Cebu in Cebu City to Mactan Island through the Municipality of Cordova.

Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway FACTS

A major infrastructure project and Cebu’s iconic landmarks, the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) will connect mainland Cebu from Cebu City to Cordova town in Mactan Island.

Project developer Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC), a subsidiary company of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), envisions CCLEX as not only decongesting traffic in the two existing bridges but also increasing economic activities in Cebu and throughout the Visayas Region.

To be operated as a toll expressway, the artistically designed 8.5-kilometer CCLEX will have two lanes in each direction and 51-meter navigational clearance for shipping traffic. With its design speed of 80 kilometers per hour, CCLEX is expected to serve at least 50,000 vehicles daily. It is scheduled for completion in 2021.

CCLEC will implement the construction and oversee the operation of CCLEX through a joint venture agreement with the City of Cebu and Municipality of Cordova.
