The relic of St. John Bosco, more commonly known as Don Bosco will take its tour in the Queen City of the South this month, December 2010. This is a must and a much waited event for the Christian people most especially Bosconians all over the Philippines. As part of promoting the Bosconian way, an international tour of the saint’s relics was planned months ago, and luckily, Cebu is one of the important places to be visited.

Why are we looking forward to it? Aside from the historical visit, the relic is carried into towns, villages, cities, churches and centers where a Gospel is spoken. Furthermore, St. John Bosco is the priest of the young. This means, teenagers and youngsters out there are closer to his heart in which every prayer spelled has a great possibility to be heard. I am a Roman Catholic and I deeply believe to Saints and Prayers, thus I said this.

The relics of Don Bosco have been recomposed from the urn (A large vase that usually has a pedestal or feet) that contained his remains since 1929 when the body was exhumed for his beatification and canonization. The bones and tissues of the right hand and arm have been taken and placed within a wax replica of St. John Bosco’s body, whic in turn is enclosed in a large urn.
