Official Statement From PLDT, Twitter Account Hacking

by - 12:14 AM

Earlier today, PLDT Customer Service Account on twitter @PLDT_Cares was hacked by a hacking group named Anonymous Philippines. They changed the twitter name from PLDT Cares to PLDT Doesn't Cares, posted some callouts, and threatened another internet provider, Globe Telecom. Details to follow.

Here is the official statement of PLDT in the recent incident.

" Our @PLDT_Cares Twitter account has been recovered and is now ready to serve.

We would like to assure our customers that the security issue was limited only to the Twitter account and did not affect PLDT's network and services.

We are keenly aware of people's need for internet services and that's precisely why, when the ECQ was imposed in March, PLDT provided speed boosts for its fibr customers and Smart increased data allocations for its mobile phone customers. That's also why, despite the restraints on movement and supply chain problems, we continue to invest heavily in our network rollout for fiber and LTE. As a result, our customers have been using more extensively a wide range of data and digital services that have helped them cope with life under lockdown.
