7 Must-Visit Tourist Spots in Pasig City to Rediscover Its Rich Heritage

by - 7:04 PM

There's something magical about walking through places that have stood the test of time, where every brick, tree, and street corner tells a story. On May 26, 2025, together with my two other Blogger friends, we experienced a warmth hospitality at the first Sky Hotel in the Philippines, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila and on the next day, we took a step back in time and explored some of Pasig City’s most iconic cultural and historical landmarks, and honestly, it felt like traveling through a living museum. My favorites are Maybunga Rainforest Park, Pasig City Museum, and the ICC!

Here’s a little photo diary + recap of the gems we visited:

🌳 Maybunga Rainforest Park
Who knew such a lush, green space existed right in the middle of the city? The Maybunga Rainforest Park, a permanently protected area, was the perfect place to start our heritage walk. It is a quiet, refreshing spot filled with towering trees, fresh air, and a much-needed breather from urban life. It houses 3,000 different kinds of trees. It's a reminder that Pasig’s story isn't just built on structures but also in the pockets of nature it preserves.

The 12 new and improved amenities of the park are as follows:

1) Senior Citizens' Park
2) Kiddie Playland is built with world-class playground equipment from Turkey
3) Rizal Pavilion
4) Picnic Grove
5) Butterfly Garden
6) Lagoon Pavilion
7) New Pet Park
8) Chess Pavilion
9) Renovation of the treasury office/cashier
10) Mushroom Modular Growing House, which is a joint project of the Rizal Technological University (RTU) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)
11) General rehabilitation ofthe  plumbing/sanitary system
12) General rehabilitation of the electrical system.

🍞 Dimas Alang Bakery
If walls could talk, Dimas Alang would have decades of delicious stories to tell. This local bakery has been around for generations, and biting into their freshly baked bread felt like tasting a slice of history. There's nothing quite like pan de sal made the old-fashioned way but the famous one? "Di Mo Akalain" - you should try!

🗽 Plaza Bonifacio & 🎖 Plaza Rizal
Next up were Plaza Bonifacio and Plaza Rizal — open public spaces that not only offer a breather in the heart of the city but are steeped in stories of patriotism and pride. Standing near the monuments made us reflect on the courage and vision of the people they honor. These plazas are more than landmarks; they’re public reminders of our roots.

🏛 Pasig City Museum
Now this was a highlight. Housed in a beautifully preserved colonial-era building, the Pasig City Museum holds a treasure trove of artifacts, photographs, and narratives that weave together the city’s long and fascinating history. From pre-colonial times to the Spanish era and beyond, every room felt like turning the page of a living history book.

⛪ Immaculate Conception Cathedral (ICC)
A visit to Pasig isn’t complete without seeing this centuries-old cathedral. Its stunning architecture, solemn ambiance, and deep historical significance make it a cornerstone of the city’s spiritual and cultural identity. Whether you're religious or not, it’s hard not to be moved by the sheer sense of time and tradition here.

🏠 Bahay na Tisa
Finally, we ended the day with a visit to Bahay na Tisa — one of the oldest surviving houses in Pasig. With its classic Filipino-Spanish architecture, wooden details, and calado windows, this ancestral home is like a preserved snapshot of the past. Walking through its halls felt like stepping into a different century.
