On an early Sunday morning, Cousins, friends and I visited the beautiful Islet of Canigao, near the municipality of Matalom Leyte. As what I heard from Bloggers and friends, Canigao won't fail your expectations as what an island should look like - and I mean, Canigao Island has white sands covering the seashore, some green trees enough to complement that powdery sands and of course, if you didn't know, during low tides, you will probably love to stay on its mini-sandbar which extends far from the seashore.

    1. If you are from Cebu, take the Shipping Service from Cebu to Hilongos ( PHP 250-350.00 , Economy of Roble Shipping )
    2. From Hilongos Port, take a cycle rickshaw or trisikad going to Highway ( PHP 15-20.00 )
    3. From the Highway, take a Jeep going to Matalom ( PHP 30-40.00 )
    4. From Matalom Highway, walk to Matalom Port going to Canigao Island
    4. From Canigao island port, list down your name and pay for pumpboat fare (back and forth) ( PHP 95.00 - 50 for fare and 45 for entrance fee which includes use of comfort room, shower room and island maintenance)

Canigao Island is being maintained and managed by Local Government Unit (LGU) of Matalom Leyte.

Here are some photos we have during our stay.

Philippines is a country of islands, seas, rivers, mountains and different resources that every men can visit and experience. Last weekend, a group of travelers and Bloggers ( special mention to my friend couple of AdrenalineRomance.com ) went to this famous paradise in the Visayas which the Province of Leyte is very proud of. It is called Kalanggaman Island. Specifically located offshore of Palompon Leyte, Kalanggaman Island is the best island that the Province can offer. Originally, Kalanggaman Island has SandBars in the Left and Right side that forms a pair of wings (if you see it above or bird's eye view) , thus it is called Kalanggaman or local term of "Bird". But due to typhoon Yolanda that hit the country in November of 2013, the Left wing vanished. Anyhow, this Leyte's treasure does still exist with it's natural beauty that left all Tourists amazed.

    Lookie! That Paradise!!

Kalanggaman Island has fine sandbars which gives you a clearer and astonishing view of Sunrise. Not to mention its clear water Beach which is good for snorkeling, kayaking and other water activities, this paradise can also give you a romantic view of the Sky at night. Just a heads up, the island cannot offer you electricity but this is an advantage to every Local or Foreign Tourists since it can give way to your team or group's bonding and camaraderie. And if you go there with  your "baby love", then the tranquility at Night is a nice starter to be more affectionate to your partners! (wink)

This sandbar stretches in the left part of the island.

Here's the white sand for you to play and experience. Just chill!

How to Get there? Normally, if you come from Cebu, you just need to take the SuperCat or Weesam Express from Cebu's Pier going to ormoc Port. The Ferry ride takes 2 hours, then you can take a van going to Palompon or ask details from Tourism office via Contacts below.

But since this article is specially made to visit Kalanggaman Island via Bogo, Cebu, Here's how to do it!
    1. From North Bus Terminal, ride a Bus going to Bogo, Cebu (2-3 Hours of ride, PHP 120 fare)
    2. From Bogo Terminal, ride a tricycle going to Siocon Elementary School ( 15 minutes ride with PHP 15.00 fare)
    3. From SES, talk to Toni Cataques on how to go to Kalanggaman Island ( or better yet, contact him first before travelling to Bogo Cebu)
    4. From Bogo-SES, you'll take their pumpboat going to Kalanggaman Island ( due to waves, ride will take 2-3 hours )

The City of Maasin is known for it's beautiful tourist destinations such as The Maasin Cathedral, The Guinsohotan Cave and the tallest shrine in the Philippines, The Lady of Assumption at the Jalleca Hills. But Who said people in Maasin City, the Capital City of Southern Leyte, have no Nightlife? When you want to chill at night after that enjoyable visits, you should try Esquina Cafe Bar. The Cafe and Bar offers a wide array of beverages from beers to spirits to cocktails. Esquina Cafe/Bar has defined the level of partying at the center location of Maasin City. It was a great privilege to experience Esquina with it's owner, Mr. Lessandro Maraon, during the first Southern Leyte Tourism Summit.
