Aboitiz InfraCapital GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (AGMCAC), operator of Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), continues to enhance passenger experience with the launch of its newest transfer system service dubbed “Cebu Connect.”

Cebu Connect is designed to facilitate efficient and seamless airport transfers within MCIA, thereby reducing layover time and maximizing comfort and convenience for travelers.

Cebu Connect aims to boost tourism in the Philippines by positioning Cebu as an ideal entry point for both domestic and international tourists. Cebu's strategic location in the heart of the Philippines offers easy access to many stunning destinations in Central and Southern Philippines, such as Siargao, Camiguin, Bohol, Boracay, and Palawan, all just a short flight away.

“Cebu Connect aims to cut layover time from an hour to 30 minutes or less, giving both domestic and international passengers more freedom to travel to their destination. This is part of MCIA’s commitment to meeting global standards in airport operations,” said AGMCAC Chief Executive Officer Athanasios Titonis.

“Providing efficient and effortless travel through Cebu Connect is our way of enhancing tourism in Cebuand positioning MCIA among the world's best airports,” said Cosette Canilao, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc.,

AGMCAC collaborated with government counterparts, including the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority, Bureau of Customs, and Bureau of Immigration, to identify the necessary resources and systems to realize this vision. With updated X-ray scanners, multiple counters, and a team of well-trained security and airport staff, passengers can expect safe and expedited transfers between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

“Travel has become more challenging today than it was years ago. To ease the journey for passengers, we decided to simplify transfers, especially for frequent flyers, families with small children, persons with disabilities, and individuals on medical or business trips where time is crucial,” added Titonis.

(PRESS RELEASE) – Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) gets into the Halloween spirit from October 27-29, 2023 as passengers receive delightful treats from spooky performers while giving a fun dance performance.

With the spike in passenger traffic beginning on October 27, in time for the long weekend, MCIA made this an opportunity to engage with its passengers through Halloween-themed photo walls around the terminal and giveaway of treats for a delightful airport experience. This is apart from providing its passengers a safe, efficient, and friendly airport experience.

The All Souls and All Saints Day holiday signifies the peak travel seasons for MCIA. With local elections also set on October 30, MCIA is expecting an influx of passengers to pass through the airport for the long holiday week ahead. In addition, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) has also established a passenger helpdesk around Terminal 1 and 2 in both arrivals and departures levels as part of its Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Election and Undas 2023 preparations.

In February this year, Mactan Cebu International Airport was named the Best Airport in Asia 2022 in Airline and Destination Marketing for the Under 5M Passengers category during the annual Routes’ Awards held in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Routes lauded the airport operators’ efforts in airline and destination marketing in supporting airline partners as well as addressing demand for air services.

In 2019, the airport’s Terminal 2 was named the winner of the World Architecture Festival in the Completed Buildings-Transport category.

The country’s second busiest airport has accommodated close to 5 million passengers in the first half of 2023 with approximately 4.9 million passengers from January to June, signaling the return of its pre-pandemic operations after three years in lockdown.###
