On January 21, Cebu is in a colorful mood as we celebrate the grandest fete in the country, Sinulog Festival! Devotees from different Philippine regions and different countries are coming to the beautiful island of Cebu to visit and pay respect to our dear Sto. Nino De Cebu. And everyone will shout, "Pit Senyor!"

Before you proceed, here's an important Note: This article is all about the hugot pics which are trending on Facebook and this is not to humiliate the essence of Sinulog Festival. This is solely for entertainment only.

    ABOUT SINULOG

During this festive week, different kinds of traditions and activities are being observed. Most Tourists reserve seats at the Grand Parade on the third Sunday of January. Some Locals chose to attend the Fluvial Parade which is happening on a Saturday. This Fluvial Procession is a very important tradition of Cebuanos as our dear Sto. Nino will be carried via Pumpboats decorated with flowers from Mandaue City to Cebu City. On the same day, Devotees will solemnly celebrate a long hour of the procession in the afternoon in the main street of Cebu City.

    KUSOG ANG SUN SA CEBU

In this era, millennials could not enjoy any celebrations without being connected and shared the happenings online. As everybody knows, Sun Cellular is very strong here in Cebu. I can attest that as I've been using Sun since it was born. And I ain't kidding! Good thing, Sun SIM is already LTE-Ready which means fast internet surfing and social media postings during Sinulog! Speaking of Social Media, have you heard of Carl Dave Black Ang's Types of People During Sinulog or "Mga Klase Sa Tao Sa Sinulog"

MGA KLASE NA TAO SA SINULOG

Have you heard of HUGOTraphy? It composes of HUGOT and PHOTOGRAPHY. It's a kind of photography but with some quotes or words on it. These words are drawn from emotions of people that concerns their love life, family, friends or even enemies. Now, look at these type of People during Sinulog made by Carl, owner of HUGOTraphy, which is currently trending on Facebook.

In the recent news of the "Manny Pacquiao" issues on LGBT , some Cebuanos gathered outside Cebu City Coliseum and burned their Nike Shoes in showing support to Philippines' boxing champion, Manny Pacquiao as he was dropped as endorser in the giant Sportswear Company.

Early this week, Nike announced dropping Pcman as their endorser. “We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent. Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community. We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao.”

Here's the video from Oriel Ballano who posted it in his Facebook profile.

Earlier today, a video went viral in Social Media and it is not the "Entertainment-kind" of trending video - This is not good, bad influence to everybody and to the community. In this shot, a certain lad is filming himself while using an illegal drug which is commonly called "Shabu". And he looks so proud of himself. It was uploaded in Facebook by a certain user named Dolphy Quizon who is obviously not the late Actor and Comedy King Dolphy. It seems that Facebook Account was intentionally created just to upload the said video.

The account was created 11 hrs ago (as of this writing)
This fake Facebook Account (uploader) set his location in Cebu City.

If you wish to view it, make sure there is no youngsters around or better yet, report it to Facebook.

FaceCebu Blogger tried to get details by asking the person behind the Fake Facebook account and until now, we receive no feedback.

Last Monday, a lady dressed as a Nurse took a 2-day old baby boy who was scheduled for vaccination in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC). Earlier today, the incident was reported in National Television (ABS-CBN) and the Hospital is willing to give a PHP 100,000 reward to those who can find the baby and the suspect. On Tuesday night, the suspected kidnapper was found in Sitio Fatima, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City. As reported by Cebu Daily News, the kidnapper, Melissa Londres is a Call Center Agent who claimed that she gave birth to the said baby. How did she escape from the hospital’s security? These are among the questions investigators of the Cebu City Police Station 2 and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Central Visayas are checking as they investigate the case.It was reportedly the first time such a thing happened in the VSMMC, Cebu’s largest government hospital. What investigators have so far are three closed-circuit television (CCTV) clips showing the woman carrying the infant from the hospital’s laboratory area (at noon) to the billing section (12:02 p.m.), before she went through an exit gate intended only for hospital employees at 12:07 p.m.Details at Sunstar.com.phCredit: Utan Bisaya and Sun.Star Cebu

    Pasko Sa Amoa

    Giihap ko ang mga adlaw
    Ug dyutay nalang
    Mabiyaan ko na kining tanan
Palayo sa kabanha sa syudad, ako mulaag
Padulong sa kahilom sa among payag

    Kon ikaw walay lingaw
    Kuyogi ko's akong lakaw
    Ali, tana...

    Chorus:
    Mangadto ta
    Magkuyog ta
    Mamasko sa amoa
    Pagsaw-an ta ang Noche Buena
    Ang Lechon ni Tatay
    Ang Biko ni Nanay
    Gihandum ko kanunay

    Ang pasko sa amoa

    Didto kon diin ang manaygonay
    Dili gyud yabag
Way paki, nakatingsi  bisan pag pangag

My dear Family, Relatives, Friends and Earthlings - this is a Hoax! It's been in Social Media again, Facebook, since the Year 2009 with other version from  Internet rumor site Snopes.com, then it came back in 2012 and again, January of this Year. And lately, it is rounding the Site again and again, Facebook denied this rumor in their mini-post last Monday which is also in relation to NASA's Mars Announcement.

Facebook posted "While there may be water on Mars, don't believe everything you read on the internet today. Facebook is free and it always will be. And the thing about copying and pasting a legal notice is just a hoax. Stay safe out there Earthlings!"

Looking back in the year 2012, we can remember that Facebook posted almost the same announcement in regards to this hoax.

"There is a rumor circulating that Facebook is making a change related to ownership of users' information or the content they post to the site. This is false. Anyone who uses Facebook owns and controls the content and information they post, as stated in our terms. They control how that content and information is shared. That is our policy, and it always has been. Click here to learn more - www.facebook.com/policies"

Here's the Facebook Hoax circulating the Social Media site.

Now it's official! It has been published in the media. Facebook has just released the entry price: $5.99 to keep the subscription of your status to be set to "private". If you paste this message on your page, it will be offered free (paste not share) if not tomorrow, all your posts can become public. Even the messages that have been deleted or the photos not allowed. After all, it does not cost anything for a simple copy and paste .Better safe than sorry is right. Channel 13 News was just talking about this change in Facebook's privacy policy. Better safe than sorry. As of September 28th 10:56 am Eastern standard time, I do not give Facebook or any entities associated with Facebook permission to use my pictures, information, or posts, both past and future. By this statement, I give notice to Facebook it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its contents. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. The violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute). NOTE: Facebook is now a public entity. All members must post a note like this. If you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement atleast once it will be tactically allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in the profile status updates. DO NOT SHARE. You MUST copy and paste

So, if you stil do not believe on Facebook's Posts/announcements, you can check the Terms of Service HERE. Please read thoroughly.

"You own all of the content and information you post on Facebook, and you can control how it is shared through your privacy and application settings."

We see some Social Media Enthusiasts and even Cebu Bloggers posted this hoax in their wall. FaceCebu recommends, if you are not sure about something, then there's always Google - Search this something and find out what is true. Stay safe dear Earthlings!!!

Oshinrose Reyes Fernandez, a fruit vendor, said she was threatened with a gun by Minglanilla Market Supervisor, Ramsay Sayson during a street argument in Minglanilla, Cebu. In her video posted yesterday (September 29), it looks like Mr. Sayson was trying to ask Fernandez to pull out her stuff out of the street. Instead of calmly requesting it to her, Mr. Sayson allegedly threatened her with gun and argued with Fernandez in a very loud manner.

"Hi guys, I'm Mark Monta and this afternoon, I will be talking about Basics, Basics on Blogging and Social Media" I started that Speaking engagement with more or less Twenty-three Timex Employees. Talking in front of people is not a new thing to me but last Thursday was different. I felt like I drank a galloon of coffee as I felt a sea of anxiety deep inside. Well, maybe it's because I know them and they know me. Third Quarter of last year, I was invited to talk in the First Southern Leyte Tourism Seminar. There were local Personalities and Senator Bongbong Marcos attended that event but it was easy and I mean I did very well. But last Thursday was different. I'm not sure why.

Anyways, Thanks to Timex Philippines Toastmasters for preparing everything. It's not a big Seminar but sharing my knowledge and experiences to my Officemates is a big accomplishment to me. I divided the session into two topics, Blog and Social Media. Even though the event was entitled as "Knowledge Cafe Brew of the Month : Blog ", I took the initiative to at least introduce some basics of Social Media and its good benefits to Start-ups or Businesses. Timex participants are very active and the interaction was indeed fruitful. I learned something from their inquiries and most importantly, they gained details and information from my short talk.

And oh, before I forgot, I also featured some of my Timex Friends' Blogs. Check them out below....
