Early this month, I got the chance to process my Yellow Card also known as the International Certificate of Vaccination from the Bureau of Quarantine. Even if you don't have international travel yet, you can still process yours. Here's a step-by-step guide for you on how to process your Yellow Card!

STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card

First, what is this Yellow Card? According to Wikipedia, The International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), also known as the Carte Jaune or Yellow Card, is an official vaccination report created by the World Health Organization (WHO). As a travel document, it is a kind of medical passport that is recognized internationally and may be required for entry to certain countries where there are increased health risks for travelers.

STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card

Before you proceed, I suggest you'll use a laptop or desktop. The mobile phone is okay but knowing the government website, it keeps on freezing, thus you need to restart the browser again and again.

    1. Open your preferred Internet Browser and open https://icv.boq.ph/
    2. Click Select Location and Choose Visayas
STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card

STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card

    3. Under Visayas, there are two options. I prefer to choose Robinsons Galleria as open slots are still green for the rest of the month.
    4. Click Book an Appointment, read the items in the pop-up and click "I Agree to the Terms & Privacy..."
    5. In the next pop up, choose NEW CERTIFICATE
    6. Fill up the form with all information and click SUBMIT

STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card

Once all set for above, you will be shown a 5-steps guide.

STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card

Step 1: Choose BOQ Service Type | Choose International Vaccine Certification Services | Choose Certificate of Vaccine for COVID 19 | Then click NEXT
IMPORTANT: The client needs to submit an original copy of his/her COVID 19 vaccine certificate issued by the Local Government Unit (LGU). The traveler must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Philippines.

Step 2: Pick your Preferred Date to Visit - Make sure to choose the Green highlights as this means open slots. Then choose Appointment Time

STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card

Step 3: (Client Info) - You need to fill in all information which includes Documentary requirements such as Government ID (PRC ID, VOters ID, GSIS, SSS/UMID, Drivers ID, or Postal ID), VACCINATION CARD/CERTIFICATE, and Passport.

Step 4: Confirmation - You need to review all information you fill in step 3

Step 5: Payment - there are different options for how to pay such as Paymaya, Gcash, or Credit/Debit Card. Just follow accordingly. Once payment is done, you are good to go! Do not forget to save the Reference Number.

STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card

What to bring during the appointment?
Here are the important items, you need to bring.
    1. Valid ID such as UMID, SSS, see above.
    2. Passport (not expired)
    3. Vaccination Cards issued by LGUs.
REMINDER: Please wear appropriate attire during your appointment.
STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card

What are the steps during the appointment?
Step 1: You need to fill out a form from the reception
Step 2: You'll wait for your scheduled appointment
Step 3: Verification - You'll wait for your turn and pass your passport and vax id so that the personnel can verify your data on their system.
Step 4: Printing - The assigned personnel will proceed on printing your Yellow Card.

STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card
    VERIFICATION STEP

STEPS : Bureau of Quarantine - Yellow Vaccination Certificate or Card
    PRINTING STEP

Does the Yellow Card have an expiration date? NO, and YES.
No, if your Passport is not yet expired.
Yes, if your passport is soon to be expired.

What does this mean? The expiration of your Yellow Card will depend on the expiration of your Passport because the ID stated in the yellow card is your passport ID.

As Filipinos rely on social media platforms in receiving information about the pandemic and the ongoing vaccination efforts, it is crucial to verify the information we see online before sharing it with others. Here are some tips from FYT and Google’s #FYTCOVID19: Fighting vaccine misinformation webinar:

    Use Google Search operators

These are short commands that help filter Search results. To find exact matches, enclose Search queries in quotation marks. Using the “+” and “-” symbols between two terms will include or exclude related matches, respectively. You can also limit results from a specific website by using “site:”, or view results from a specific time range by choosing “custom range” in the Tools option. For a complete list of search operators, click here.

Confirm when a post was uploaded

The date and time of when a post was uploaded is important when relating a source to a context. This is usually easily identifiable on some social media platforms, where hovering over the date and time or selecting “Inspect” allows you to view precise upload details. You can also use InVid to verify the exact local upload time of YouTube videos.

    Use reverse image search

Images or footages can be easily used in the wrong context. There are a lot of available tools online to verify the original source of an image such as Google Image Search, Yandex, Bing, Tineye, and Reveye among others. For videos, InVid’s verification plugin allows the extraction of multiple keyframes and do reverse image search on them.

    Identify the geolocation

Sometimes, a simple reverse image search can help identify where a photo or video was taken in order to verify if an incident took place where it claims to have happened. If not, it will be helpful to look out for street layouts, statues and monuments, architectural details, street signs and shopfronts, license plates, as well as terrains and topographies.

Be keen on details when watching videos

Be sure to watch videos right through because details can be crucial. Watch out for camera movement and take time to pause to catch the decisive view you need. You may also use the apostrophe and period keys to advance or reverse frame by frame. Most importantly, don’t forget to listen - you may be able to pick out place names, accents, dialects.

    Utilize Google Maps

If you cannot be physically present in a certain location, you may use Google Maps’ Street View.  You may even view old street view images of the same location through the “historical view” function.

To learn more on how to fact-check vaccine information, head on over to the FYT YouTube channel and watch the free “#FYTCOVID19: Fighting vaccine misinformation” webinar to hear from experts from the health sector, the academe, esteemed journalists, and Google.

Since pandemic, we cannot go out but if we do, we do it safely! But most of the time, we stay at home to be safe from the Covid-19 virus. But during leisure time, what's best to do? Of course, Netflix and Chill! But do you know these amazing features which are very useful?

    Netflix features and in-app innovations!

    • Creating an account is super simple! Netflix has different subscription plans to choose from, and one example is the Mobile Plan which will allow you to enjoy Netflix via your mobile devices for 149 pesos per month.
    • Once you have your account set up, do take time to personalize your profiles, especially if you have kids who can access Netflix on their own. Netflix has useful Parental Control features that you can implement - keeping your kids away from titles that are beyond their maturity and age of understanding.
    • If you’re wondering what to watch after finishing your favorite show, Play Something allows Netflix to choose the next title for you. This is based on previous titles you have watched and liked in the past.
    • You can enjoy Netflix even if you are offline, of course, provided you have enabled Smart Downloads on your device. Smart Downloads also deletes previously watched episodes/titles before proceeding to download the next one. This innovation can help you save up on internal device storage.
    • Did you know that even the visually impaired can still enjoy Netflix? This is made possible by Netflix’s Audio Description feature. This audio feature describes what is happening on screen, including physical actions, facial expressions, costumes, settings, and scene changes.

What are we waiting for? Let's Netflix and Chill!!!

(PRESS RELEASE) In early 2020, the onset of the pandemic posted big challenges as businesses struggled to stay afloat due to strict lockdowns and social distancing measures. Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, responded accordingly by helping MSMEs shift online easily and seamlessly. And with vaccination programs ongoing, Shopee continues to aid economic recovery by mounting community initiatives focused on increasing vaccination education and uptake to fight against  COVID-19. These programs include Shopee’s Vaccination Center Support drive, Shopee #FullyVaxxed Package, and the Department of Health’s (DOH) Resbakuna campaign.

    Shopee Supports Vaccines

With fewer cases during the first half of 2021, the country saw great potential for a rebound as there were less restrictions allowing mobility and economic activity.   Because of this, the Philippines continues to push for the health and safety of its community through its vaccination efforts, with more than 51 million doses administered.   When the health of the population improves due to the vaccine, it serves as an avenue for educational achievement, growth in work opportunities, improved social functions, and a better chance in economic recovery.

Shopee, in partnership with different brands and organizations, launched vaccine-centric initiatives to support the country’s journey towards a healthier and safer Philippines.

Vaccine Education through Resbakuna: Kasangga ng Bida

During the first quarter of 2021, many Filipinos were resistant to the vaccine due to three key reasons: concerns about potential side effects, uncertainty about efficacy, and skepticism. In partnership with DOH, Shopee educated the community about COVID-19 vaccines through a dedicated in-app microsite and social media initiatives. Through Shopee Live, DOH representatives Dr. Dominic “Meng” Maddumba and Beverly C. Ho, MD, MPH, Director IV, at the DOH Health Promotion Bureau, raised vaccine awareness to combat vaccine hesitancy and also discussed the facts about the vaccine’s safety and efficacy. Shopee recorded almost a total of 50,000 unique views for both live stream sessions.

Providing a more pleasant inoculation experience with Vaccination Center Support

Shopee partnered with local government units of Makati and Taguig to provide Filipinos with a more comfortable vaccination experience. Residents and frontliners from both cities received food and health kits from partner brands. These included snacks from Del Monte, Perfetti Van Melle, Dutchmill Soy, Monde Nissin, and Rebisco; bottled water from Hope in a Bottle; and health kits from Mighty Clean, Colgate, and Cosmetique Asia; and units of Symphony Air Coolers. With the positive reception of the public for the first two initiatives, Shopee aims to roll out the same project in Quezon City later this year with a total of 4,500 potential beneficiaries for all three cities.

Incentives for the fully-vaccinated with the  #FullyVaxxed Package

From July to September 2021, the Shopee #FullyVaxxed Package offered fully vaccinated Filipinos a special bundle they can use for personal needs and encourage others to complete both doses. With more than 15,000 sign-ups, users enjoyed free shipping, discount vouchers from Shopee, and discount vouchers from various brands such as Manuka Health, Photobook, Bo’s Coffee, KonsultaMD, Uni-Care, The Smile Bar, Converse, Planet Sports, Globe, and Marketplace sellers such as Bella’s Online Store, ED.Kids, Flagship Store, and more.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “Shopee is committed to helping the nation’s efforts towards positive economic recovery as much as we can so that everyone can benefit from a safer and healthier society. We would also like to extend our gratitude to all our partners who have lent their support in many ways. Together our efforts can make a bigger impact.”

There was news weeks ago that Cebu as a whole breached the 1 Million mark of Vaccine doses. Personally, I was happy about it and got excited with my second dose. I know there is still fake news about the effects of vaccines but for me, I would like to believe the Scientists who made these vaccines than those Facebook Users who spread bad news about it. And to celebrate my fully vaccinated self, I am doing this special article for Cebu Netizens who proudly posted their  Covid-19 Vaccination to their Social Media Facebook. Good job guys!

Press Release - The effects of COVID-19 are felt to this day most especially economically. People lost their jobs, some needed to close shop after years of existence, others are barely surviving. Needless to say, numerous people found themselves working double to make up for income losses. Challenging as it may be, there is a silver lining as the situation proves how resiliency will get one by. This story is evident in the world more so in the Philippines.

Not only are Filipinos known to be a friendly race; Filipinos are also popularly known to be hardworking. For some reason, the more physical the job, the more effort has to be exerted. Often do we hear the term “Push lang ng push!” Push to keep going, push to finish the task, push not to quit. Pushing the body strength reflects a strong and determined attitude translating that Filipinos will go through great lengths in order to provide for themselves and their families.

With the pandemic, the roster of heroes has evolved from the National Heroes that we know, to the OFWs, and now the Delivery Riders, Service Crew, Medical Front liners, who all spend long hours to cater to the needs of many. And do they deserve the recognition! Real life Lodi! But wait! We can also here them say, “Tao lang po! Kapuy!”

No doubt that the challenges faced in the past year have already caused some concerns on one’s health and bodies especially for this type of workers. Imagine traversing the roads all day to get packages from one point to another, standing countless hours to check patients here and there, pushing the body never ends. Body aches and pains are inevitable though often ignored. Inasmuch as the motivation to go on is there, these manifestations of long working hours also take a toll on the bodies to a point that ignoring it no longer becomes an option.

Fortunately, a product that can be brought to work, what can be called a “work buddy”, is available. Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax), from the same makers of Vice Ganda’s endorsement Paracetamol + Propyphenazone + Caffeine (Saridon Triple Action), is ready for the hardworking Filipinos.  There is no stopping the hustle because Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) provides upto 12 hours pain relief from body pain and arthritis vs. plain Ibuprofen and Paracetamol. This will allow long hours of non-stop work required to provide for the family.

Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) associate marketing manager Toby Manlapat shares, “The effects of the pandemic are making us work doubly harder so becomes even more important to relieve our bodies from aches and pains to go through the daily grind and allow us to be in a good condition to deliver our tasks and provide for the family. Push!”

Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) is manufactured by the global pharmaceutical company Bayer. Available in leading drugstores in Luzon (Dagupan and Pampanga), Visayas (Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod), and Mindanao (Davao, Cagayan De Oro, General Santos, Zamboanga). Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) may also be availed nationwide via Southstar Drug Online (Sarimax for Southstar)  and Watson’s Online (Sarimax for Watsons).

Naproxen Sodium is the generic name of Sarimax. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

There is no stopping the hustle because Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) provides upto 12 hours pain relief from body pain and arthritis vs. plain Ibuprofen and Paracetamol. Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) is priced at P9.00 SRP for 275mg variant.

Aside from the fact that Covid-19 brought 2020 down, it also brought a positive outcome to all Families, especially to our Filipino Families. It made us realized how strong our families are and it brought us closer to each other! With this, the pandemic gives us more strength, love, and faith that soon this will be over but for now, let's all stay at home and be all Connected by Hope!

This is what I learned during my quarantine life. I have never been so close to my sisters and brothers. I've been very helpful to my niece and nephews especially on their Modules and online classes. Imagine an uncle like me, doing the office job at home while beside me are my nephews/nieces who are waiting for my assistance for their daily lessons. I thank PLDT Home for not giving us headaches during those difficult times. They are so reliable until this writing.

To add to that, I've become the errand boy of the family. I do the groceries, I do the dishes and I do the cleaning at the bathroom. I am so proud of it. Sometimes, when I do the grocery and forget something, I just called my mother via Facebook Messenger and together discuss what to buy. Her realme 5 pro is connected to our PLDT Home Fibr - no hassle at all!

While staying at home, my mother started planting plants. She never buys them but she asked her sister in law who is living in the province area to send her some parts of the plants and she then does grow them. Sometimes, when she felt that she did wrong, she just then grabbed her smartphone and do some research. After then, she will post her plots with plants proudly!

And what's the other thing that happened that I did not imagine I did was some DIY and bedroom improvement! Yes, I became very addicted to DIY research online and made my room very pleasing to the eyes. I am just so proud of it.

Indeed, Home is the best office. Home is where the family is. Home is where our Hope is. Let's all be connected by Hope!

It's a digital era indeed as Social Security System (SSS) members can now claim proceeds and benefits without leaving one's home by just enrolling their PayMaya account as default disbursement option in their My.SSS online portal.

HOW TO ENROLL PAYMAYA AS BANK DEFAULT IN MY.SSS ONLINE PORTAL?

    1. Log-in to your My.SSS Account online.
    2. Under E-Services, Choose the following details.

    Bank: PAYMAYA INC
Bank Account Number:  (Input your cellphone number which is registered to your PayMaya account)
Confirm Bank Account Number: (Input your cellphone number which is registered to your PayMaya account)

    3. Click to check the box beside, "I agree that the information...."
    4. Click the Enroll Bank Account button.

Proceeds from the SSS funeral and unemployment benefits, among others, may be coursed through the member’s PayMaya account. Soon, members may also receive their calamity, salary, and other loan proceeds via PayMaya.

The move is part of SSS’s efforts to migrate to a 'checkless' disbursement process and completely electronic way to distribute funds and other proceeds to their members in response to the growing need to go digital and practice physical distancing given the current public health situation.

“As the country deals with the effects of the pandemic, our digitalization efforts at SSS become a crucial part in ensuring that we deliver not just continuous but also safe service to all of our members. We are glad to continue expanding our partnership with PayMaya not just in allowing electronic payments of member contributions but in the fast and safe disbursement of their benefits as well,” said Aurora Cruz-Ignacio, President and CEO of SSS.

“SSS has been one of the leading government agencies aggressively implementing digitalization of their services, and we’re glad to enable them with our end-to-end digital platforms so that their members can conveniently and safely transact with them wherever they are,” added Orlando B. Vea, Founder, and CEO of PayMaya.

    Accelerating digitalization of government

The availability of PayMaya as a disbursement option for claims and benefits is part of its partnership with SSS in the latter’s efforts to ramp up the digitalization of its member services.

In 2019, SSS launched the capability to accept credit and debit cards as well as e-Wallet account for contribution payments via its new mobile app powered by PayMaya Checkout, allowing its members to remit their regular contributions anytime, anywhere–even if they’re abroad.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, PayMaya also provided the SSS a way to quickly and easily disburse proceeds for its Small Business Wage Subsidy (SBWS) program to qualified MSME employees via their PayMaya accounts, allowing them to still receive much-needed government aid even without a bank account.

To date, PayMaya has helped disburse over P1.4 billion in financial aid from the various national agencies and local government units to their respective constituents through digital means, allowing recipients to quickly and safely receive funds using only their mobile phones. For more information on PayMaya's digital payment solutions for government, email gov@paymaya.com.

SSS members who want a more convenient way to receive their loan proceeds and benefits can simply download the PayMaya app for Android or iOS at https://official.paymaya.com/CAK1/425eb133 and register for an account using their mobile number.

    KEEPING YOU SAFE ALWAYS

To ensure the safety and protection of all passengers, PAL is strictly implementing an all-out ‘Fly Safe’ set of new normal safety measures and practices – dubbed “New Normal, Same Heart” – that adopts international health and safety protocols while keeping the signature heartfelt service that the airline is known for.

    1. Passengers are encouraged to check-in online
    2. Passengers are requested to arrive early at the airport to allocate extra time for new safety procedures.
    3. Passengers are required to wear face masks or facial coverings at all times – at the airport and throughout the flight.
    4. Passengers are required to observe physical distance whenever queueing in line or while seated at waiting areas at the airport.
    5. Check this complete list of reminders from Philippine Airline's "Keeping You Safe Always" post.

The Philippine flag carrier is one of the first in the world to require cabin crew to wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while onboard the flight; PAL’s cabin crew also undergo medical evaluation prior to their duty.  PAL has modified its inflight meal and snack service, using sealed packaging instead of traditional meal arrangements. On top of these, PAL also offers Onboard Distancing Seat Options in Business Class, Premium Economy, and a designated zone of the Economy Class cabin for passengers who wish to be extra safe when they fly.

All PAL aircraft are equipped with advanced cabin air systems that continuously infuse fresh air across the cabin (cabin air is replaced every 2 to 3 minutes), as well as High-Efficiency Particulate Air filters (or HEPA filters) that remove viruses, bacteria and other contaminants with 99.99% efficiency. The onboard air creates a controlled and cleaner environment comparable to hospital operating rooms that is safer than most enclosed public spaces.
